Journey

Henry Katamba was born in 1983 in Masaka, Uganda. From an early age, he showcased a remarkable aptitude for singing, with his first performances taking place in school and church choirs. Charting a course steeped in the rich traditions of mbalax, soul, and reggae, Katamba captured the national stage's attention in 1999 with "Omutanda afunye omubeezi," a song dedicated to the Kabaka of Buganda's wedding. While his nascent career bloomed, Katamba pursued academic rigors, relocating to the UK in 2001 where he studied health and social care at London South Bank University, eventually working with the NHS. His debut album in 2006 marked a milestone, soon followed by popular singles like "Casanova" and "Abakazi tebakyakuula" in 2007. After a decade-long pause to focus on his healthcare career, Katamba heralded his musical revival with the 2017 album "Enkuba," a collection notable for tracks such as "Maliridde," "Tuula," and "Enkuba." Beyond creating music, Katamba has shared stages with legendary artists such as Chaka Demus & Pliers, Diamond Platnumz, and Lucky Dube. His 2021 collaboration with Chosen Becky on "Tubyekole" was a testament to his continual influence and creativity. While balancing a career in healthcare, Henry Katamba champions an ethos of artistic collaboration, pushing the boundaries of Uganda's music industry.
